Bank of America experienced a service disruption, resulting in some customers seeing their account balances incorrectly displaying as zero.

Bank of America is the second-largest bank in the U.S.

On Wednesday afternoon, Bank of America experienced an outage that caused some customer accounts to display a zero balance.

One user on X reported seeing a $0 balance in their account, but after calling BofA’s automated phone service, the correct balance was provided.

The bank’s customer support account on X directed users to an automated link for assistance.

Bank of America, the second-largest U.S. bank after JPMorgan, serves 69 million domestic consumer and small business clients.

In a statement to FOX Business, the company said:

"Some clients are experiencing an issue accessing their accounts and balance information today. These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience."

However, Downdetector’s monitoring site still showed reports of technical issues continuing into the 7 p.m. ET hour.

Despite the outage, Bank of America’s shares remained relatively unchanged at the close of the session, with a year-to-date gain of over 16%, slightly trailing the S&P 500’s nearly 20% increase.
